(Photos by Tom West, James Drew, Jeff Burghardt, Mike Burghardt) The historic Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals, presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com opens the Mello Yello season this year, as every year at Auto Club Raceway at the Pomona Fairplex on February 8-11.
Ron Hope, team owner and principal driver of the legendary Bantam AA/FA Rat Trap is organizing the event. “I’m excited to put this group of legendary drivers together,” said Hope. “It will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and greet these drivers and listen to their stories. And it’s free to attend.
“On the bench we will have Randy Bradford owner and driver of Bradford’s Fiat, Leon Fitzgerald owner of Pure Heaven II, Rich Guasco owner of Pure Hell, and Dave Hough owner of Nanook. Attempting to corral this group will be Funny Car driver “Fast Jack” Beckman who will probably be joined by a couple of his contemporary racers.”
Combined, these four racers have more than 200 years experience racing the wildest Fuel Altereds of all time. Each began his career in the Golden Age of drag racing and the heyday of Fuel Altereds, however, each continues to do his part to perpetuate what many feel is the most exciting nitro class ever.

Todays Funny Cars and Top Fuel cars { which suck by the way } couldn’t hold a candle to the show the old Fuel Altereds put on . Today’s F/C and T/F cars are nothing more than money pits that stupid people keep throwing money into .
