Bomber seats are super popular in traditional hot rods, customs, and rat rods, but they aren’t for everything. I love them, and would love to have them in a couple of my projects, but I also think that a bit more modern version is sometimes more appropriate. In this video from The Fab Forums you get to see just how to make a cool, modern, version of the old bomber seats. I think they look cool as hell, and they are inspiring me for sure on some seats for my 1956 Chevy station wagon. Doing aluminum work like this can be daunting for many people, myself included, but seeing it done makes it a lot more understandable and approachable. There are lots of projects that seem completely out of reach for the home builder, but with a few simple tools it is amazing what you can actually do.
Watch these videos and let us know what you think. We think making something like this would be a huge accomplishment and something to be proud of every time you open the door of your hot rod. After all, it’s not like folks are going to see these on every street corner. Make them and let us know how they work out!
