(By Tom Lohnes) – Remember a few weeks ago when we all thought Chrysler was going to die? Well, big people at Stellantis have made multiple claims about Chrysler, and they don’t look too good.
Well, for starters, Stellantis is pushing off Peugeot’s Re-birth into America, which would attract many buyers due to it being a “new” brand. Stellantis is then dipping into Peugeot’s launch fund, and giving 50% of it to Chrysler to get themselves back in shape. Furthermore, Peugeot is sending cars over here just to be rebadged and sold as Chryslers. Talk about a mess. Oh, and we should mention that the other day the SRT division of Dodge was apparently dissolved. Yeah. Bad.
So, what does this mean? Well, the Chrysler lineup of precisely two vehicles as we know it will disappear, and many “American” crossovers and EV’s will come and save Chrysler’s dire financial state. Although Chrysler isn’t dying, their only tie back to their heritage, the 300 sedan, sure is. Likely to be cut for the 2023 model year, this big sedan is dwindling in sales especially compared to it’s far more muscular brother, the Dodge Charger.
In short, Chrysler is about to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. Expect the first French-American Chrysler crossover to debut this year, with many, many more to come.
Ah yes…I think in the past it was referred to as a “partnership of equals” or something like that. Same game, new dance partner….
Opel Insignia (Buick Regal Stateside until 2020) may come back as new 300? That would be ironic, suppose they would do away with the GM 4 cyl.
Good riddance… it was all garbage anyways!
These companies from other countries just cant stop trying to ruin Chrysler. What is this the 3rd European company that wants its foot in Chrysler’s footprint? Chrysler people are not going to buy a European vehicle. Call it what you will it ain’t the same bloodline. And with Mopar nuts, blood is way thicker than oil.
Pukejos are the absolute worst cars ever.
I must be mad. 10 Pugs, 1 million miles, loved every one!
Yes me too, I’ve had three.
307 HDi, 407 HDi, 508HDi
Absolutely wonderful to drive.
Thank god I have my dream Dodges! A Green with Envy Challenger RT, A TorRed Challenger Hellcat and a New Durango SRT. I better get the Charger widebody Hellcat this summer!
