Iron Trap 1933 Ford Project: The Channeled Coupe Gets A Full Custom Flat Floor

Matt at Iron Trap does some really cool stuff and is always fun to watch. His builds always make me want to build a 1930’s or 1940’s ride and this one is no different. This 1933 Ford is one that they bought as a pile of parts and along with all the other ’33 Ford parts he’s recently collected, and the stuff he’s had stacked up in the shop, he’s putting this one together. The wedge style channel job is something I dig and love the look of, and I think you will too. So check out what they have going on in this episode, where the classic hot rod gets some tweaks so the doors will work. Of course that’s because the body is so bent and floppy that it’s going to need some real help when it comes to mounting it to the chassis.

Video Description:

Typically when we build floors for our hot rods we use thinner sheet metal, and add some beads to add strength to the panel. For the 33 3 Window Matt decided to take a different approach with thicker metal that will not need any type of additional work to make it stronger. The front portion of the floor will be made with 12 gauge and the rear section over the step in the frame will be 14 gauge. The additional strength at the front portion will allow us to weld and mount tabs where necessary and not worry about the sheet metal ripping. Time to fire up the Eastwood Plasma and get to work! Let us know in the comments what you think of this approach to floors!
