A Mouse Refreshed: The Hagerty 283 Small Block Chevy Project Heads To The Machine Shop

Maybe we’r just simpletons, but we love seeing engines at the machine shop. In this case it is the little 283ci unit that Hagerty is working to add to their long line of Redline Rebuild projects. While a 283 may not have the cache as some of the more oddball engines they have done, this one certainly has all the elements to be a big hit as the small block Chevy remains a great cornerstone of hot rodding and the aftermarket. Typically these projects are done as a stock rebuild and this one seems to be headed that was as well.

There’s not a lot of exotica here but it’s just cool to see the process of taking old, tired parts and refreshing them for their next phase of life on the road. Unlike other builds, this one does not appear to have any big concerning flaws other than the fact that it as sitting for a couple of decades. When the valves come out of the heads you’ll see some ugly looking seats and stuff but nothing that cannot be rectified by a good trip to the machinist, right? Watch and find out.

Press play below to see this little 283 get bought back to a state of freshness –
