(Photos by Charles Wickam) – It has been a while since Wickam attended a dirt circle track event and picked dirt out of his teeth after a night shooting cool cars sliding around on the slick surface. Last weekend Wickam went to Battleground Speedway for some of that sideways action on the hard packed Texas dirt. Located in Highlands, Texas Battleground is a 3/8 mile high banked dirt oval. So what that translates to is that it is a short, fast track with awesome racing action.
The event that Charles attended was called the “Chassis Challenge” and it featured a multitude of classes, cars, and heats. From late models and pure stocks all the way up to the thundering beasts in the modifieds, this event had it all. Thankfully for Charles it also had more attentive golf cart drivers because none of them ran you over. Win!
If you dig short track dirt racing under the lights, this gallery will totally be your jam!
Great night time action shots! Good stuff as usual Charles….
thanx Joe
