Bonneville Speed Week 2012: Jason Line Joins The 200mph Club, Speed Demon In Impound!

Bonneville Speed Week 2012: Jason Line Joins The 200mph Club, Speed Demon In Impound!

It’s been a crazy Monday here at Bonneville Speed Week 2012, and it’s only halfway over! We’ve got 100 more photos for you to check out, including photos of Jason Line who ran a blistering 240mph lap in Wayne Jesel’s Dodge pickup to get into the famed, and often elusive, 200mph club after setting a 225 MPH record. George Poteet and Ron Main fixed up the Speed Demon after blowing an engine yesterday and throwing in their D motor proved to be a good thing as they ran 419mph this morning to qualify for yet another record which means they had to go to impound for the night and will try to backup the record tomorrow morning. They are currently the top speed of the meet and that puts them at the top of the list for the Hot Rod Trophy which goes to the single quickest lap of the Speed Week. Blowfish, who tore up a transmission and had some wiring issues was back on track this morning also and seems to be back in the hunt.

Lee Sicilio, who’s ’69 Dadge Daytona we are following around, is getting ready to make it’s very first checkout pass within the hour.

There were tons of great runs made today, with a lot more coming, and we’ll be here covering it all for you. Tonight we should have over 100 more photos, plus an update on Lee’s car, and maybe even some video!

Impound means they qualified for a record and the car is impounded for the night so they can come back and “back up” their record tomorrow. Nothing to do with cheating LOL.

I often have to explain the function of Impound to newbies – or just unfortunate competitors! It’s a GOOD thing – residents are half way there.

      (I work in Impound).
