Detroit Autorama 2017: Gassers, Crunched General Lees, Power Wagons, and More

(Photos by Mike Brooks) – When Henry Ford went chuffing around the streets of Detroit on his Quadracycle more than 100 years ago there’s no chance he could have ever envisioned that one day his fair city would host a gathering of modified, customized, and otherwise wildly built cars and trucks from all over the world. Hell, he’d be blown away to see how much of the steel he was alive to see produced was still around and in the hands of some of the most talented craftsmen and fabricators in the world, right? Can you imagine his thoughts on the various classic Fords from the 1920s and 30s seen here? It would be amazing to hear it.

That’s the nature of the Detroit Autorama and the 2017 version was very, very strong in terms of car quality and attendance. No, we were not on board with the launching of the Charger to kick things off but we’re over it. You can see the remains of the jump car in here and it sure looks about as rough as everyone said it was. That being said…cut it out. That feels better.
