(Photos by Mike Brooks) – Having had the chance to spend some time with Mike Brooks last weekend up at Lancaster Dragway, I can tell you that this dude gets around the New York/Ohio area. His lowered, Cadillac powered Chevy pickup truck is an awesome whip and it gets him all over the place. One of the best places he has been this year is the Old Soul Rod Shop Hardcore Happening which literally goes down in the backyard of the place and as Mike tell its, the event is one of the coolest things he has ever been to.

Because it is small and fairly intimate the Hardcore Happening has a feel all of its own and the fact that this collection of photos contains not just “show shots” but also images of car burning tires along a street lined with big hay bales showing that this deal isn’t just about sitting in the sun and looking at your car, it is about having fun with these things doing what they were intended to do.

In talking to Mike, space at the event is limited and that is why the event is on a restriction with regard to how many cars can get in and participate. Hey, we think that’s cool. Little shows and events like this one are the backbone of the hobby. There’s potentially more fun to be had at a deal like this than some 2,500 car blow out somewhere. That’s our experience, anyway!
