NSRA Nationals 2015 Coverage: Look Ma, No Fenders! Fenderless Cars, Trucks, And More

NSRA Nationals 2015 Coverage: Look Ma, No Fenders! Fenderless Cars, Trucks, And More

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – Folks, you can categorize rods several different ways.  You’ve got pre-war and post-war.  Then you can define between those with fat fenders and then not.  You can select them by style such as tudor, 3-window, or cabriolet.  I’ve decided to split them here into those with and those without fender with this group being of the latter.  Some like lowboys and some like hiboys.  I’m good on both, but do prefer a hiboy with no rhyme or reason as to why.  This gallery has the gamut from the super-traditional to some pretty bizarre stuff, but all of it is cool – sans fenders.

I am a fan of just about anything that looks like a deuce or at least has a deuce grille shell.  Plenty of those in here.  Traditional-style steel wheels are big and that theme was very prevalent at the Nationals.  The powerplants are diverse and we’re seeing a lot more flatties, nailheads, and other non-SBC stuff these days.  There’s a slant-6 and a straight-8 lurking in this group.

Enjoy.

My friend’s fender fell off once while we were driving. It wasn’t supposed to do that, though. This just reminded me of that. 🙂
