Our nearly unending landslide of roadster photos from southern California continues today with another really cool grouping of 50 roadsters that we would love to cruise the streets in, road trip, or just hammer down the open road with. Chefs talk about how lots of the very fancy and expensive foods people eat today began life as peasant dishes made from the things that the rich guys who owned the house didn’t want to eat. Such was the case in hot rodding as well. Why were roadsters the defacto early hot rod style? Basically because they were cheap and they were often cast off by people who were looking to upgrade to such amenities as a roof. Big jump there!
The great blank hot rodding canvas that these cars stand for helped to set the foundation for a world of 700hp cars on the factory showroom today. If you don’t think so, we’d love to debate the point. Without the early hot rods and their racing, the OEMs would have never paid attention, invested millions, created the muscle car, the pony car, and whatever variant you want to call of each that exists today. These cars are awesome and they are the shoulders on which the hobby stands today.
