I am sad to report that this will be the last installment of The Scoop! From Bonneville Speed Week 2016 as I have to beat feat from Utah and head to Brainerd, Minnesota for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals. It has truly been a fantastic experience spending the week on the salt and I look forward to the long days and longer nights in 2017. Congratulations to all of the record setters in 2016. It is the accomplishment of a racing lifetime to etch your name into the vaunted record books of the SCTA. This crop of qualifiers will have the same chances that everyone else has had when rolling out of the impound lot after sunrise on Wednesday. We spoke to one crew chief yesterday morning and he described the feeling of the morning in impound as “exciting and terrifying”. This means a lot.
So here’s our last Scoop! of the week from the salt flats of Bonneville.

Very cool stuff. I would not have thought to use the 1.3 Suzuki for much of anything, heck they usually are the first thing pulled out of Samauri’s in favor of at least the 1.6 Suzuki.
Probably a 1300cc Hayabusa bike motor
Thank you Brian, and Chad for the excellent photo coverage of Bonneville. Your efforts have nailed it for me if they are running next August, I will be there.
Really enjoying you coverage of Bonneville. Keep it coming.
