Over two thousand cars, who knows how many thousands of people, and a historic track that is offering up autocrossing, drag racing and even a burnout contest…did you think for one second that we weren’t going to crash that party? Of course not! The Hot Rod Power Tour is in town and I spent the majority of my Saturday doing the hard work of walking around, snapping photos while mentally filling a warehouse of cars that I’d love to own…if I was in a position where I had the GDP of a small island nation. The good stuff comes out for Power Tour, which incorporates stockers that are lovingly cared for, the entire gamut of customs, rats, and even some exotics showed up. Who knew you could watch a high-end Porsche and a McLaren hit the strip at Power Tour? It happened! Stopping racing to rescue a kitten off of the racing surface happened, too, as did summer showers that rolled in later in the day.
I’ve been at Beech Bend for many events, and by sheer amount of vehicles alone, Power Tour just might have taken the cake. Shows like LS Fest bring in more people overall, but not counting spectator parking, the amount of participants that were parked within the track surface filled just about the entire “C” shape of the area around the dragstrip. I can’t wait to see the drone photography of the lot! We have plenty of photos to bring you, so keep watching all week…this should hold you until the Hot Rod Reunion!
my entry no. was 6600.
cars were lined up way behind me to get in. I got there just before the rain, and I know there was a steady stream of traffic going out for 3 hours!
