10 Seconds Of Fun: Watch This Gear Jamming Brazilian Maverick Rip Into the 10s With No Boost Or Spray

All 10-second cars are not created equal. Sure, the numbers on a time slip may look the same from one piece of paper to the next but the reality is that transiting the course is a completely different kettle of fish. You can take an automatic Hellcat and make a couple of tweaks to run as quick and as fast as this guy is breaking his aggies to do it in a straight-six Maverick but the difference is that we’d pay a nickel to watch the Maverick work because it is a pretty entertaining show.

This car makes all the right noises, is certainly the right color, and the driver can really get down with it when it comes to working the shifter. Cars like this one have an element that lots of the late model, traction controlled, lack of soul style cars don’t. We cannot really put a finger on it but this thing looks like it takes some work to drive, takes some work to tune up, and ultimately takes some skill to manhandle down the track. Sure, it runs 10s and there’s guys running 5s in street cars but machines like this one are totally great and they’re the types of cars that can really inspire others to get out there and do it for themselves.

We always say that horsepower is the international language. Can it possibly be any more clear after watching this?

CORRECTION: This isn’t a straight-six car. Claudio, the owner of this Maverick, was sure to let us know that a 347 stroker small-block Ford is powering this beast!

I really like the car. Nothing like 10 sec. car that you have to drive. And, the stands are packed. Thumbs up to Claudio!

” …there are street cars that run in the 5’s…..”

    But they’re really not.

They’re unapproachable, unaffordable ProMods with a license.

These are more interesting! Hats off to Claudio.

(How could anyone hear that engine as a straight 6?)

I’ve always like a nicely done Maverick, and that one fits the bill. There’s a lot left in that sucker, too. There’s several tenths in the clutch tune. He gets that dialed in a little better, he’ll be puttin’ that sucker on the back bumper.
