Junior Stocker For Big Money: This Amazing 1957 Chevy 210 I/Stock Time Capsule Rules

Junior Stocker For Big Money: This Amazing 1957 Chevy 210 I/Stock Time Capsule Rules

There has been a resurgence over the last couple years in interest over old NHRA Junior Stock cars. Lead by guys like Wayne Jesel and his restored Yoo-Hoo Too 1956 Chevy sedan delivery, the cars are seemingly coming out of the woodwork these days. The latest machine to emerge is the Patrick Brothers 1957 Chevy 210 I/Stock runner and BangShifter Chris Cabe tipped us off to it. The car won the I/Stock class at the 1968 US Nationals and competed at several NHRA national events over the course of its life.

Packing an advertised 425hp 283 and a T10 four speed manual transmission, the rear axle has 4.56 gears, and it rolls on period correct drag rubber. This thing really is neat and it appears to be sitting exactly as it would have been all those years ago when it was raced every weekend. The seller is not sparing the price, though. Want to own it? Come up with $65,000 and you can drive it away.

We’re not 100% sure if this thing is in “as raced” shape or if it has been restored. Either way it looks authentic as hell and beautiful. We want to wind’er up and side step the clutch!

Here’s the text of the ad in case it disappears!

1957 Chevy 210 Hardtop Patrick Bros. “In-Bomber”, NHRA “Indy” National Champion Jr. Stocker, fully restored. Raced by the Patrick Bros. of Omaha, Nebraska between 1966-1970, competed in no less than five NHRA National events and was the 1968 H/Stock class winner at Indy. Tons of history and documentation. Competition 283 makes 425hp backed by Borg Warner Super T10 4spd and 4:56 rear, NOS original drag tires from the 60’s, outstanding paint and hand lettered graphics, many rare original decals, to much to list. Very impressive car with a great story. Currently the only known restored Indy winning Jr. Stock ’57 Chevy.

Jr. Stock was just a bit before my time. Reading between the lines, was this a class in between Stock and Super Stock, with just a cam and piston change allowed?
The 425 hp advertised is a high number for even a period correct 283 S/S motor, let alone a stocker, so I’m assuming that’s fresh dyno numbers on a modern build along the lines of a competitive stock I/Stocker with a non-legal cam.

It really should be Jr Super Stock. Some of the engine combos on these cars were head scratchers. Wouldn’t mind owning one tbough!
