This is the coolest drag car we have seen on eBay in years and that’s really saying something because we have seen a few. What makes this car so cool? The fact that literally no on builds them like this anymore. You are looking at a production line manufactured 1968 Rambler American which was then taken, gutted, converted to center steer, and run with a range of small cubic inch engines in the D/Altered (and likely other classes as well). This thing is still 100% intact, has the same chassis, and needs to be put back together.

On a personal note, these are my favorite type of drag race cars. Cars that literally no one builds anymore. Today if you look at a D/Altered it will likely be a traditional open cockpit altered or an old pro stock car with a small block in it. This was before anyone knew what a pro stock car was and a guy would take a production line car and freaking covert it to center steer for fun. This is so awesome.

The car has history in the Buffalo, New York area as it was the Lancaster Dragway champ back in the late 1960s. Ideally someone from there would buy it and get it back into shape but we just hope someone who loves old school drag racing gets their mitts on it and makes it whole. This thing with an 9,000 RPM small block and four speed manual transmission would be almost too much to speak about without bursting into tear.

This is SO GOOD!

Last pic I thought someone had done this to a Hurst SC/Rambler, but no. Little disappointed the original builder Rambler dealer put a Chevy in it, but what are ya gonna do.

Yep, back to the time where if the #1 sparkplug wasn’t set back 25% of the car’s wheelbase IT AIN”T ALTERED!!!
