Pro Street Perfection: This 1977 Mustang II Has Just Enough Of The Past To Be Present

Pro Street Perfection: This 1977 Mustang II Has Just Enough Of The Past To Be Present

Yeah, I know. This one will be a pure exercise in love/hate, right? There will be people who look at this Ford and immediately turn their nose up at it and there will be others who are attracted to it like a moth to a bug light. Me? I think it is pretty great for the reason that it does (in my opinion) honor the past while keeping a reasonably modern touch. The paint is really nicely done and the layout/color selection is definitely a blend of modern and old school. The layout of the graphics is pretty modern but the colors use are 100% right for the golden era of pro street in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The wheels are modern, the stance sure is modern, and then we get those side pipes which have to put out enough noise to shake buildings on the way by, we have the blown 331ci small block Ford engine, which is perfectly at home in the chassis, and then there’s all that rubber in the back giving the car the signature look. To me, there aren’t that many things that can be done with this style of car other than pro street to make them super appealing. Filling that entire rear wheel well really makes the thing look tough.

The interior is different with the white seats and purple dash, but overall this thing is pretty awesome and splits the difference between old and current pretty well in my eye.

So what do you think? Love it or hate it?

Lots of want there. Small car, big tires, big blower, always a formula for success (as long as it’s reasonably well sorted).
