2000hp is a stout number for any type of vehicle, period. Land, air, sea, it doesn’t matter. Corralling 2000hp in a Lamborghini Gallardo requires jet fighter reflexes and a lot of confidence in your own driving skill. But as with all motorsports, things can happen, and unfortunately for this particular car, it ended up with the Lamborghini taking a bath. This occurred at the wannaGOFAST event in Ocala, Florida yesterday. The Lambo, which has been modified extensively by Heffner Elite, has been raced before and clocked at speeds over 220mph.

After an earlier run, the rear diffuser/bumper cover had been damaged, and subsequently removed. Whether or not that is the reason why the Lambo got loose isn’t known yet, but the videos speak for themselves as to what happened: the car got tail-happy, spun and ended up going off-course and into water. Luckily, it didn’t go too deep, so repairs should be easy…we highly doubt that anything involving a custom-build Lamborghini can be called “cheap to fix”. And, good news as always, the driver walked away.

    Racing next to a lake (Lake Charles Darwin). Let’s see…roll cage-check, fire bottle-check, PFD-check.

I was there Saturday and he was the top speed holder at the end of the day @ 233.9. Getting traction out there proved a bit difficult for such an overpowered rocket. Had issues on Sat and from listening to that video spinning through 4th gear, the same problem yesterday. There were some incredible pieces of hardware out there this weekend.

Race tracks and lakes are not happy bed fellows. Does anyone remember Petty (and others) getting a little to close to Lake Norman in the middle of Daytona??
