Whether it is three inches or six feet, there’s something to be said for being able to brag about the fact that your car can yank the nose on the starting line. In this piece of our continuing 2016 March Meet coverage, we’re featuring wheelie photos and only wheelie photos. Every car in this gallery has the wheels up even if only by a little. Back when my dad and I first started racing, we stepped up the power the car made season after season. One year I could not figure out why the front end was acting weird just after the hit of the throttle on every run. The track photographer showed us the answer. The car was pulling a little itty bitty wheelie on the hit and I was feeling the shimmy when the car hit the ground again. Talk about feeling like a boss!
While the cars and drivers get most of the credit here, the track staff at Famoso Raceway deserves a ton as well. Without a starting line capable of dead hooking the tires and creating the kind of traction that allows the pinion to climb up the ring gear, you’d never see any of this stuff!
Famoso Raceway is still hooking hard after all these years. Proof is below.
Great photos of some cool cars but no photo of Adam Sorokin doing that wheelie.
Awesome coverage of the event which was appreciated by many who couldn’t make it in person.
Big thanks to BS and their sponsors.
