(Words and photos by Bad Brad Klaassen) – So, if you’ve been following along, you’ve read about and seen what an amazing time is to be had by anyone that attends the Meltdown Drags just outside Byron, Illinois, at Byron Dragway.
For me it was extra special too. I got to meet the “Camfather,” Ed Iskenderian, for my second time. First in California and now in Illinois and this time we made a cigar swap. He said, “I’m getting the better end of this deal, your cigar is high dollar and mine is cheap.” I laughed and told him I disagreed, because I wanted him to sign his cigar for me, and he did. What an epic moment for me, being the stogie nut and Isky fan I am.
Sometimes one has to stop and reflect back on how blessed we are and I’m still always amazed how blessed I am to be able to cover one of the greatest sports on earth and get to work on the machines too. Plus, drag racers are the greatest family on the planet as well. Thank you to everyone that’s supported me all these years in this crazy venture. I appreciate all of you immensely!
