2018 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Photo Coverage: Glorious Barn Find Gallery!

(Photos by Bob Chiluk) – We don’t think that we’re saying anything out of school when we call the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals the greatest muscle car-centric car show in the world, right? This thing has become the gold standard place to see and be seen with rare, cool, restored, or freshly found muscle. Classic race cars are there, insanely low production muscle cars are weirdly there in volumes, and there’s a barn find section that makes everyone buzz each year.

The whole “barn find” thing has exploded over the years and amazingly people keep turning up new discoveries on the weekly it seems. Whether they be actually rare cars or perhaps just something cool that was tucked away and never saw the light of day for decades, there’s a mystique and a fun story behind all of them. The cars in the Bob Chiluk photos below show a great cross-section of the stuff collected for this part of the show. We’re guessing some of them will be sold as they are, some of them will be restored, and some of them will be left as time capsules, displaying their tattered and worn appearances like badges of honor. No matter how they remain or change, we’re just glad that someone found ’em.

I think the “it makes the barn find more valuable by leaving the dust and mouse poop on it” idea is getting a little carried away.

I agree. I was watching one of the many car shows on Velocity ,can’t remember which one, but they were pushing some relic out of a garage and the guy said “be careful! don’t disturb the dust!” How long before there’s a market for faux dirt and period correct rats nests and mouse poop.

I joked with my friend about his /Porsche 356 for sale, told him we need to put dirt all over it and a bunch of boxes so it would be worth more as a “barn find”

Bangshift has been on my favourites list for years. I never thought I would see one of my cars appearing on it. Thanks for that. And yes, guys do carry around bags of dust to touch up any fingerprints. It\’s harder to keep them like this than it is to keep them shiny. It\’s an edge look but this crew certainly pulled it off.
