(Photos by Wes Allison) – There is a certain joy that comes with the opening of any season of competition. For some the weekend ended with happiness and with the first step made in the goals they want to accomplish this year. For others it may have ended with blown up, broken stuff that has forced them to reevaluate what those goals may be, but in the end getting out to the track, whether it is a drag strip, a dry lake, or the local bullring all seems to make life a little better, right? For land speed racers, this is 100% the truth. People came from all across America to run at El Mirage, many having sat at home for a year sometimes wondering if they would ever get to do it again.
This is our last blast of SCTA El Mirage coverage from the opening meet of the year. It sets the table for the inevitable march toward Bonneville and the super bowl of land speed racing on the salt flats. That makes us very, very happy and we bet it does the same for you. Enjoy these images!
