62! Aaron Strong Wins Delayed Seattle Pro Stock Final At Indy – Amazing!

The history books will show that Aaron Strong won the 798th NHRA pro stock race in history and became the 62nd person to ever hoist an NHRA Wally with the words “Pro Stock Champion” on it after winning the delayed final round from the Seattle race at Indy yesterday. In said final, Vincent Nobile turned on the red light by .001 of a second and strong saw his win light twinkling at the top end of the race track. The final round victory caps one of the most interesting paths to a professional Wally we have ever seen.

During the Seattle race, Strong qualified 14th and the set about weaving through a shark tank of pro stock racers. Not taking anything away from the team but it became a battle of attrition with engines expiring in the other lane, racers red lighting in the other lane, and Strong’s green Chevrolet Camaro reaching the finish line first each time.

As a hometown racer, the fans in Seattle were going crazy for Strong and it was a shame that the rains came and the final was washed out until Indy. That being said, the crowd at Lucas Oil Raceway went berserk when the scoreboard lit on Strong’s side of the drag strip on Saturday evening.

There have now been four pro stock winners in 2016. Historically speaking, that makes this a typical year in the most unforgiving naturally aspirated class in drag racing. Simply amazing. Indy magic with an asterisk from Seattle.

That was beyond Cool ! That was like Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson. It’s good to see David take out Goliath now and then.

    Congratulations Aaron !

Very cool and great to see a Division Six guy win… I don’t think there is even a Div 6 PS winner out of those 62 guys.
