Sid Waterman is obviously one of the great genius racing minds of the last 50 years. The guy literally has seen and done it all. He may be best known for drag racing fuel systems, which are still winning championships on John Force’s cars, but his work has touches Indy, NASCAR, and ever other form of racing as well. Back in the day Waterman was a top fuel racer, fielding several cars over the years including one of the neatest slingshot dragsters of the middle 1960s. Waterman raced with Jeep Hampshire and the guys were not messing around. They were a legit operation that performed and won.
Waterman’s philosophy, his history, his favorite moments, and other things are touched on in this video. The affable Millican is the perfect guy to be asking the questions because he loves this sport and he knows Sid’s history in it.
It is always valuable when you hear successful people speak like this. It provides a window into their lives and their path to succeed where others may have thrown in the towel. This video is 100% worth the 7-minutes that it is for the simple reason that you’ll learn stuff about Sid Waterman you never knew (like working with Mickey Thompson!) and other stuff that you may think you know but don’t really.
This is a great tribute to the titan of fuel systems himself, Sid Waterman!
