Well here it is, confirmation of what could have been the hottest rumor in the world of professional drag racing since the holiday season. Alan Johnson, one of the greatest minds in the history of modern drag racing will be the tuner on Brittany Force’s Monster Energy top fuel dragster. To this point it has been kept very quiet. Not silent, because the word has leaked in dribs and drabs but now it is official or at least as official as the tweet below can be. Johnson has won 11 top fuel championships with five different drivers over the span of a career that is basically unmatched.
There will be LOTS more coming on this story over the next few days, that’s for sure. This could have big implications for the team with regard to their manufacturing of parts and pieces because with Johnson’s own machining operation and capabilities the deal could go deeper than just a tuning gig. We’re going to guess that Brian Husen will be on the car but that has not been confirmed.
Just when you thought it was going to be a relatively quiet week for the NHRA crowd, THIS happens.
Did anyone out there who follows this stuff ever think that you’d be talking about the day Alan Johnson was a part of John Force Racing? The other question that remains is the fact that Johnson had already said he would continue tuning the Steve Torrance top fuel effort as well. How’s that going to shake out?

Keep in mind all of the key players within the AJ tribe…Jason was CC for one of the previous diggers, but clearly Alan did the tuning calls then…He always has…Curious to see how or where the Bernstein’s play into this, as it was Kenny who last wore the Monster logo on the flopper. Hopefully Brittany can get it all together as well. She seems to be lacking the killer win win win mentality…Hopefully I will eat those very words! Monster digger rules!!!
I like it. whether its one year or five year contract . the data is critical . I wish the the force family great things I have followed the family from rags to riches from beginning to end no matter what the changes are their family values mean a lot to me
