LS Killer: This Aussie Ford Falcon Has A Warmed Up Barra Inline 6 and It Goes 9s

LS Killer: This Aussie Ford Falcon Has A Warmed Up Barra Inline 6 and It Goes 9s

In a country fully obsessed with LS swaps, LS performance, and LS bragging rights, it seems inconceivable that there would ever be a challenger to the king of cheap horsepower. That challenger comes from Australia in the form of the famed Barra inline 6 engine that Ford produced. Tough as nails and used in vehicles like taxis and others, the anvil-like engines can be bought for a song and with minor tweaks, can make hay with the best of them. These are getting swapped into everything over there and even cars that came with them originally are waking up. Cars like this FPV Falcon.

Using the engine that came in the car and adding a Garrett turbocharger, some selective machine work, stout bottom end parts, and all of the normal tricks like an O-ringed block, this engine shoves the full weight, full interior car down the track deep into the 9s and over 150mph.

The only major driveline change was removing the stock manual transmission and swapping a Turbo 400 behind the engine.

Too bad we do not have such a rivalry here in the USA. Yes, the Coyote makes power and can do big damage on the track but they get swapped at like an 8% rate as compared to the LS. Big fun and well done down in Australia.

The Barra and the LS are both great engines, and get swapped into just about everything down here.
