When you put a blower on top of a classic Olds engine and then feed fuel through its veins you are living right and that’s what we can say about the Little Honker, the car featured in this video. The machine is a vintage drag lover’s dream. The half body draped down over the dragster style chassis. Speaking of the chassis it has parts that remind us of a Chassis Research TE-440 but we’re not sure if this is a recreation of a car that was actually restored back into working order from a period of dormancy.
On the first run you will hear the car just murder the clutch. In today’s world of “no-prep” drag racing you are looking at a car that never really ran with any prep and so a track that may well be toned down for an event like this still provides way more grip than the clutch can handle. The solution was good to this problem.
Rather than mess with the clutch and stuff the guys did the next best thing. They dumped some water/bleach in front of the rear tires on the next pass an the car did exactly what they wanted. It smoked the tires and that Olds engine got into a much happier sounding rev zone as well.
As cool as the whole Cacklefest thing is, cars like this one are where it is at!
