Video: First NMCA Factory Super Car aka NHRA Stocker Runs 7’s! And It’s A Mopar!

Yesterday Brian showed off his story from NMCA Racepages about the fact that the factory built drag cars, like the COPO Camaro, Drag Pak Challenger, and Cobra Jet Mustang, were knocking on the 7 second door and likely to make it happen at this weekend’s NMCA race in Bradenton Florida. Well it turns out he was right. And the winner…or at least the first to the 7’s, is a Mopar. Yep, Geoff Turk took his 2015 Drag Pak Challenger to the number one spot in qualifying on Friday with a 7.996 at 170 mph. That is hauling some ass folks.

Turk is no stranger to running quick in his Blackbird Drag Pak Challenger, as it was the quickest NHRA Stocker in the world prior to this moment with an 8.02. But that isn’t a 7, and that’s why he has kept on it and finally pulled it off.

Here are the incremental numbers from the pass.

What really shows just how much power these cars make is the 30 mph gain in the last half of the run. It takes some real power to make that kind of speed differential happen, and considering this all comes from the factory it is really impressive.

Now we’ll see how the teardown process goes, as these cars are supposed to be in NHRA Stock Eliminator trim.

It’s awesome to see just how many cars are knocking on the 7 second door. Check out the complete qualifying list.

  1. 383 Duster

This is what NHRA Pro Stock should be…….
Mopar, Ford and Chevy going at it with actual cars that resemble what is in the showroom.
Oh, and, MOPAR of NO CAR
