SEMA 2017 Vehicle Spotlight: The Hellcat Powered Prius From American Racing Headers Is Epic In Every Way

Not every car at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas is designed to impress because of classic styling or epic performance. Some are there just to grab as much attention as possible using pure obnoxiousness, others using amazing execution and styling, while others use pure shock and awe through pure excess. Such is the case of the PriuSRT8 that was built by the boys at American Racing Headers. By taking what many will say is the face of anti hot rodding, the Toyota Prius, and combining it with a Hellcat Hemi from Chrysler, the American Racing Headers crew has slapped every tree hugging, zero emissions stroking, holier than though prick right upside the head. And we worship them for it.

We grabbed some photos of the car last night and can tell you that it looks like an impressive little monster in many ways. We’re pretty sure we could get into a lot of trouble with it since it has over 700 horsepower on tap. This is a Prius I would love to cruise SoCal’s HOV lanes in while acting like a clean air vehicle.

Here is one of the team’s update videos from the build, and if you CLICK THIS LINK you’ll be able to check out more build photos.

Does “polishing a turd” ring a bell?

It may be the fastest Prius on the planet but its still a Prius.

As a Prius owner I love it and when my 294k mile Prius dies I hope to do something like this but with a Toyota engine

Yes – it should be a stock Prius colour and have widened stock wheels. Then you could challenge huge V8 powered cars to race for money. When the drivers had wiped the tears of laughter from their faces they’d be crying out of sheer misery when they get blown off the road by a Prius!

That was cool to see, lots of little bits of comedy on there.

It was built properly and must be a blast to drive.
