NHRA Motorsports Museum Twilight Cruise Features Willys Round-Up!

October’s Twilight Cruise at the Pomona Fairplex-based NHRA Motorsports Museum featured a salute the classic gasser and street machine; the Willys – in their yearly Willys Round-Up.

The weather was great and attracted over 125 cool examples of Los Angeles hot rodding, featuring Willys Overland pre-World War II vehicles and it looked like all of them were driven to the monthly Museum Cruise.

There were some prize examples of that legendary breed, but famed SoCal racer Jack O’Bannon owns and drives an awesome Willys. His unreal 1941 full chassied, street driven monster sports a blown, aluminum Keith Black Chevy engine.

Later this month on October 25-27, the NHRA Museum presents their California Hot Rod Reunion and Heritage Series World Finals at Bakersfield’s Auto Club Famoso Raceway. There will be dozens of nitro funny cars, top fuel dragsters and fuel altereds, but the sportsman ranks of gassers, altereds and hot rods will give you your moneys worth!  If you’re into Cacklefest©, this event is the originator.

The monthly Twilight Cruise is held on the first Wednesday of the month at the Pomona museum and while there, spend the time to see what’s inside that classic Fairplex WPA-built edifice. Some great restorations, re-pops and memorabilia from what is considered NHRA’s “Golden Era” will be worth spending an afternoon.
