This 1970 Dodge Challenger Is Mopar Perfection: Hemi, 4-Speed, Black On Black, With A Dana 60.

In 1970 everyone was buzzing about the new Mopars, but it was the Cuda that was the star of the show. With that said, Dodge’s new Challenger was one hell of a hot rod and shared the same E-Body platform with the Cuda so they were kissing cousins for sure. Available with every single engine that Mopar made, the Challenger and Cuda could come with everything from the Slant Six to the killer Hemi. And while Mopar’s engine offerings were astounding, it was their High Impact Colors that garnered just as much attention. Colors like Plum Crazy and Sublime really made you stand out in a crowd. And in recent years the crazy increase in Mopar prices had High Impact cars going for stupid money since everyone wanted one. But there was an upside to that too. For me at least. I got so used to seeing crazy colored Mopars, that seeing one that WASN’T became cool. Which is why this Challenger really does it for me. It is as sinister as it gets, but isn’t “murdered out” because of some trend. It came this way from the factory.

This particular Challenger did not leave the factory with a Hemi in it. Nope, it is originally a 383 car that had an automatic behind it, which means I won’t feel bad about bolting some other hot rod parts to it. The 426 under the hood is a Mopar crate engine, it is backed by the correct Hemi 4-speed, and it does indeed have the Dana 60 out back. It also has the correct Hemi exhaust system, power disc brakes, power steering, and is an original black on black car.

It was built in Los Angeles, has original houndstooth interior, and is fairly priced at $65,000. Once again this one is available from our friends at Stoker’s Hot Rod Factory. The cars they list are always as advertised, always run and drive nice, and are the kind of cars you want in your garage. If you have questions, or want to make an offer on this thing, call David at 909-920-6797

We approve.

The steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps do it for us. I’d put a drag radial out back and start autographing every street possible. This thing is rad.

Painting a Challenger black gives it a very different vibe from the High Impact colors. I like it.

I think the car is perfect. Kind of a strange thing to like but my gawd that center console!

I’d rather drive this than a new Demon. Yes, I know, it probably only runs 12’s as it sits. But just a more visceral connection for me.

Pretty sure everyone would agree with you. I would give both testicles and a kidney, but that probably isn’t enough for the down payment…

That’s my dream setup, but plum crazy purple with front and rear spoilers, Rally wheels, and a Shaker.

i like it, but since it\’s not an original i\’d add a few more things. i\’d add a 5 speed from Passon, Hotchkis sport suspension and 4 wheel discs behind the 15\” wheels with Cokers new radial Firestone Wide Oval tires on them. i wouldn\’t touch the rest of it, so[[ then it would look the part of a restored car but would be really very streetable.
