The Original Small Tire Drag Racing: A/Stock And C/Stock Automatic From The U.S. Nationals In Indy

The Original Small Tire Drag Racing: A/Stock And C/Stock Automatic From The U.S. Nationals In Indy

Thursday is a special day at the U.S. Nationals in Indy, not only because it is day number two of the most prestigious race of the year, but also because it is the day that Class Eliminations happen for Stock Eliminator. Commonly, and affectionately, referred to as Stockers, this cars have very few aftermarket parts allowed in and on the engine. Valvetrain and some rotating assembly parts may be newer reproductions of stock parts, but they still have to run stock heads, intake, and carburetors on the classic A and C Stockers.

Running on a 9 inch wide slick, with the most common size being a 30 inch tall, 9 inch wide, radial slick, these cars carry the front wheels high in the air and can run in the 9’s in classic trim. It’s crazy to think about what guys are doing on these “stock” parts.

At this year’s U.S. Nationals, two of the classes to watch were A/Stock, a class full of higher horsepower combos and manually shifted transmissions, and C/Stock Automatic, a class full of medium to high powered combos with automatic transmissions behind them. No trans brakes allowed by the way!

Check out both videos from the event below, we’re pretty sure you are going to dig them.
