Tool Review: Astro Tools Rivnut Drill Adapters – A Smaller, Simpler, Easier Way To Use Rivnuts On Your Next Project

We’ve talked about rivnuts around here before, but if you aren’t familiar then you should be paying attention for sure. If you are familiar, but are used to using an installation tool that is more like a large rivet tool, you should be paying attention. Why? Because Astro Tools has a couple of different drill adapter options for setting rivnuts that makes it easier to do quickly, makes it possible in areas with less space, and with tools that take up a lot less space in the toolbox. So if all this sounds good to you, watch the video below to see what you are missing.

Rivnuts are incredibly handy when building cars, trucks, etc. They install like a pop rivet, but the result is a threaded hole you can use to mount just about anything. No, you shouldn’t use them in a floor pan to mount seats to, but for non structural items they are great. They come in sizes that allow everything from the smallest screws or bolts all the way up to 3/8 inch. They are excellent to use on a firewall, interiors, under the hood, etc. But sometimes it is either hard to access the spot you want to install one in if you have to use the traditional riveter for installation. In those cases, either an air or drill operated installation tool makes things easier. This tool here comes in two sizes and allows the use of a cordless drill to install all your favorite rivnut sizes.

I don’t own one of these, but I sure want to now. What do you think? Do you need to add one or both sizes to your toolbox? I know I sure do!
