Oil filter tools, or wrenches, can be incredibly simple or kind of trick. But regardless, they should actually work and that means they need to be able to grip an oil filter in order to turn it and remove it. With dirt, grime, and oil on them sometimes, there are certainly times when it takes more than a strong hand to get that oil filter to come loose.
