Lawrence Tolman Regears The 8.8 In The COYOTE KILLER For Better Acceleration

Ford’s 8.8 inch rear axles have become a very popular performance choice in not only the cars and trucks that came with them, but also a lot of other rides receiving swaps. Sure, the Ford 9 inch is one bad ass rear axle that can take almost anything you want to throw at them, but the 8.8 is darn good as well and capable of handling real power when set up right.

The stock 8.8 axle had a 3.27:1 gear ratio which makes for some nice low RPM on the freeway, but when it comes to acceleration, it leaves something to be desired. So, we’re installing a numerically higher ratio which will give the engine more leverage for taking off. Have you ever wanted to know how to re-gear a rear Ford 8.8″ Axle? Well today, we’ve got you covered.
