If you are a Ford guy that still has a 4.6L 2V rocking in your Mustang, or have swapped on into something older, then this is going to be the video for you. Richard has taken a 2V, changed it to Ford’s best intake, and then started swapping other parts to find out what they are really worth on the dyno. Throttle body, cams, headers, and an intercooled Vortech Supercharger baby! This little baby engine, at just 281 cubic inches, is capable of REALLY big power with the right combo of stuff, and can make great power gains for most hot rodders with just a few mods. Keep in mind, the king of the 4.6L, Accufab’s John Mahovitz, is located right down the road a couple miles and has tested tons of his engines in the very dyno cell that Richard is testing in. I’ve personally seen way over 2,000 horsepower in that cell with one of John’s twin turbo race engines. And that was on low boost.
But this test isn’t about making 2,000 horsepower. This is what you can expect if you were to grab a 4.6L out of the wrecking yard, or your car at home and do these mods and then bolt it to the dyno. Real testing, real numbers, and real power.
