You Will Not Believe That This Pro Mod Crash Ended With The Car On All 4 Wheels And The Driver Walking Away

We see a lot of crazy crashes, after all we’re at the dragstrip more than most anyone you know. And sometimes it is a wonder that someone could survive some of them. But it is rare that someone sends us their own crash video. This almost never happens. But this crash is no normal crash, as this one had more flips and spins than we’ve ever seen without the car actually coming down on track upside down. It flipped in the air, but it landed on all four wheels. Luke Robinson, son of Andy Robinson, of Andy Robinson Race Cars in London sent us this video of his dad driving his Pro Mod Car and crashing it violently at Santa Pod.

Here is what he sent us.

Hi Chad, I hope this finds you well! I am a big fan of Bangshift.com and check it out every day. We race Pro Mod here in England, my Dad Andy Robinson is the driver with over 30 years experience in the class and I am his crew chief. Our crew is mainly family, with my Mum, sister, brother in law and future father in law, as well as some longtime friends of ours. After wrapping up our 7th MSA championship, Dad had an unfortunate and spectacular accident in the finals. The car got a bit out of the groove, and then made a move to the right, Dad pedalled it and straightened it up but when he got on it again the car moved right again, sending him into the wall. We believe the impact with the wall caused a steering arm failure which caused the car to turn very sharply left, at which point the air caught it and lifted the car entirely off the ground. Fortunately the car stayed in between the walls and did not continue to roll, instead it actually came to a halt on all four wheels. The Santa Pod safety crew responded before the car had even come to a stop and were there immediately to check Dad out, fortunately he doesn’t even have a scratch on him and was able to get out of the car and walk over to the ambulance! This is a true testament to the safety equipment and SFI chassis specs, and also the amazing response from the Santa Pod safety crew. Anyway without further ado here is a video:

All this played out right in front of us, we were at about the 1000 ft mark on the banking.
at first we could not understand why the car was flying.
There was also a bit of a small fire, but that went out quickly
The safety guys were moving while he was still flying.
Sad end to a good days racing.

Hope to see you back soon,(new car?)

Graham Fox, it must have been pretty crazy to watch from 1000\’! The safety guys did an amazing job, as did the SPRC staff and the crew in the medical centre. We cannot thank those guys enough. We will be back for sure, with a brand new car! Dad is keen to get back behind the wheel so watch this space!
