While most of the world does not celebrate June 4th, we do around here because 604 happens to be a good displacement for stroker big block engines and rather than just show you come low compression pump gas killer, we’re going whole hog with an absolutely brutal blown 604ci Chrysler wedge engine that we’re sure now lives in a drag racing car somewhere. This sucker made 1,885hp and 1,525 lb-ft for torque on the dyno pull you are about to see. We love the steam pouring out of the dyne’s water brake as this engine tries to literally churn it through the wall of the cell that it is in. The glowing headers are pretty bad ass as well to be honest!
We do not know who’s blower is on it but we do know that it has B-1 cylinder heads and that beautiful polished injector hat on top of it. The pulley on the blower is not super small but it is not a wagon wheel, either. This video was long so we skipped to the meat of the action. We’re guessing that this was the big mill’s first start up judging by how much care was taken by the guys to get it up to temperature and double/triple check everything.
There are more bad ass power adder engines in drag racing today than ever before. Horsepower is all around us. Hell, the top dragster and top sportsman fields at today’s races are running times that fuel cars envied a couple decades ago and these guys and girls are doing it with a dial-in on the window!
Anyone know where this engine landed? We’d love to see the car that it is in.
