This thing is so far past hack Yugo jokes, it isn’t even funny. How about a brilliant and kind of weird homebuilt hot rod that uses the car’s tin can light weight in its favor and uses and engine and drive combo that only someone with serious mental problems of the best kind could concoct? This car is awesome in every BangShifty way possible. From the “big ‘n littles” up front and in the back to the virtually rust free body, the 170-180hp Thundercat 900 two stroke engine, and the car’s lack of reverse, we’re loving it. The dude who screwed this together probably used a golf cart for his inspiration and we don’t say that to me mean, we say it because judging by how stuff is mounted, he did. The engine and the rear axle are essentially one modular unit and when you see the drive system you’ll understand why. The belt drive off the motor is hooked to the pinion. They have to remain at that fixed distance to maintain belt tension. This is so good it hurts us to think about.

There probably isn’t all that much rear axle travel because if there was too much the top of the engine would be bashing on the crossmember that’s carrying the load of the shocks. Maybe a step could be put in that thing to free up some more room? It could actually be more spacious than it looks and maybe we’re getting messed with by the camera angle. We’re still hot to trot on the whole thing and if you look at the welds and how tidy the setup is, this person really did a nice job. We’re wondering if he told the axle guys what his plan was and where their third member was heading? Disc brakes are evident in the back as well, so you know she’ll stop OK. It must be as loud as a howitzer inside, though. The exhaust seems like it may terminate inside the car. Again, we cannot see for sure where it actually exits, if there is some sort of a collector directing it down or what, but either way you know this thing makes some ungodly noise inside.

The seller estimates the weight at between 1,000 and 1,200lbs and he thinks it will roll 11s in the right hands. THOSE HANDS NEED TO BE A BANGSHIFTER’S! THE AUCTION ENDS IN HOURS. There have been a bunch of bids but no one has really gotten after it to knock the price up. No reserve, this thing is selling today!

HERE’S THE TEXT OF THE AD IN CASE IT SELLS EARLY –

Up for auction is my 1987 Yugo. Its a pretty clean little Hot Rod with some rust but still very solid. Its now rear wheel drive and has nothing in the front under the hood.

Its got a 1995 Arctic Cat Thundercat 900cc snowmobile engine mated to a Franklin Quick Change rear end with a reverse rotation 4:56 ring and pinion and final driven at 8:50 gear. Power is transmitted thru a CVT Comet drive with a comet pro4 primary clutch and puck style secondary. This car does not have reverse…it pushed very easy.  Both the engine and rearend are rebuilt with all new parts. It does run and drive but still needs a few things to finish it up like a permanent fuel cell and lights/turn signals wired. This car is crazy fast and I would bet it would do mid to high 11’s with no problem. Im moving and cant afford to ship my YUGO across the country!

I don’t think I could do it. It’s a bad little beasty and would blow minds wherever it went. It’s a Yugo though. That revulsion is deeply rooted. I can look at it and appreciate that it’s cool, no way I’d ever own one.

You mean like a Yamaha 4 stroke motor with a turbo instead of the AC? 300 hp in that thing would be STUPID fast.

Good call Rick, I was thinking a turbo bussa motor, heck even a S&S V-twin would be neat and sound cool. Heck even a turbo Honda mill would be cool. On second thought any decent motor would be worth at least twice as much as the car, but you would have the coolest yugo around.
