The Grumman LLV is a staple vehicle on American roads. The little mail trucks that trundle around your town or city have a reputation of being ugly, slow, and completely uninspired but they are also exactly what the postal service wanted when they had Grumman build stack loads of them 20 years ago. LLV stands for Long Life Vehicle. They are as simple as can be, durable, and easy to maintain. They are also becoming fodder for LS swaps and other stuff as more and more of them head out of service. But this is not about swapping an engine into a stock LLV. No, this is about letting Chip Foose go nuts and design the baddest ass iteration of a mail van that he could think of. He does a good job.
Frankly we’re hoping that someone out there with the skill, the resources, and the want sees this design and builds the rig as Foose prepares it. It would be awesome and it would follow along through the history of some killer drag racing vans like Blastro and the wild Lumina APV pro mod that was birthed in the Kansas City area back in the 1990s. This would be the modern version to top them all.
Always fun and fascinating to watch, the creative process is on full display here.
Ironic…the USPS just announced that delivery times will increased for certain types of mail; as if we hadn’t already noticed. Supercharge their asses!!!
20 years ago?????? Those things have been in service since the mid to late 80’s!!!
