(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – So we missed the 2nd US60 Nostalgia Nationals back in Sept ’16 due to a schedule conflict. We did make it out on November 5th for the last blast of the year and catch all the late season action. This gallery is primarily made up of sedentary cars and random pictures that made the cut.
We will start off with tom McCreary’s ’61 Falcon Wagon. Last winter this thing got a new cage and now looks quite cozy inside. This thing is always up for a big burnout and we actually caught a few shots of a left front tire getting air (evidence in a later article). Making the trek from Indiana are members of the Kuntz clan including Bill Sr. with his gray/blue Deuce 3-window and Bill Jr.’s ’46 Ford fat-fender. A little further on you see Morris Wheatly strapped into his Bad Mojo ’57 wagon waiting his turn in staging. There’s a shot of Tony McConnell (one straight-axle mafia ringleader) helping his daughter stage the ‘Foul Play’ Falcon. Check out the wild headers on this clean, early Barracuda. In one of the most-chance photos I captured that weekend is the Six-Shooter heading back on the return road. We’ve even got a staging battle shot from the pit bike race with the competitors staring each other down for the final. Next to last is 2015 Champ Aaron Riley and son (Falconstein) handing over the crown and paying homage to 2016 Points Champ Mike Johnson (KometKaze). Lastly is event champ Chris Hul hoisting his huge trophy beside the US60 tower and Austin ‘Twisted Mouse’.
Enjoy
