The nooks and crannies of the high performance speed parts industry present some pretty interesting finds on a regular basis. There’s always something that we see and think, “Why did they make that?” We’re putting this Hilborn injector made for old Ford inline six engines pretty near the top of the list. Currently for sale on eBay by a guy who has insane amounts of weird and awesome old junk, the asking price for the piece is $1,800. If you think that is high, go ahead and find another one to bolt onto your car. This is likely either the last one left or one of only a handful.

The most interesting thing for us is considering how this got made in the first place. What was the motorsports application that the inliner Fords were being used for in such volume that this would have seemed like good business? We’re guessing it was the drag strip. The seller claims that he got this piece from a seller who had it on a car he used to match race in Southern California. Even on its best day a Ford 250 (or even down to the little 144) isn’t going to be a huge horsepower maker whether it is being fed gasoline, alcohol, nitromethane, or unicorn tears.

This had to have been a massive improvement over a stock log intake manifold and of course it did give a nice straight shot to the valve so that the air and fuel got there in a hurry so there’s no doubt that it made horsepower and likely helped the small number of racers who were relying on those inliner Fords for power.

It would be bad ass to see a Falcon with a 250 in it and this intake feeding the engine. Hilborn is known for being able to rehab pretty much anything they have ever built so after buying it we’d ship it over to them and get it refreshed into good as new shape.
