(Photos by David Whealon) – In this third installment of David Whealon’s photographic year in review we get a look at everything from top fuel championship dragsters, monsters trucks on end, Outlaw tv starts, lithe road racing machines, fire belching PDRA drag race iron, and stuff I probably forgot to mention already!

If you enjoy any sort of piston powered motorsport activity, you are going to enjoy these photos. It is tough to shoot action images like this, especially at venues where the lighting may not be at 100% or even 20% of what anyone would like it to be. Capturing the monster trucks mashing cars or standing on end is cool, seeing the pulling tractors, struggling with the strength of Sampson against the sled is great, and the look of a drag car with fire like a volcano out of the pipes is iconic.
