Drag Freak Video: Watch George Eiserer’s 1993 Lumina APV Pro Mod Mini-Van Run 6s At 200+ In 1998!

Only the hardest core Pro Mod fans will remember the insane and pretty bad ass 1993 Lumina APV van campaigned by Missouri native George Eiserer. This thing was build by Ron Meek Race Cars, rolled on a 106″ wheelbase, derived power from a blown, akly burning big block Chevy style engine that measured out to 526ci, and looked far too awesome for a mini-van race car. If memory serves me correct, Eiserer was a school teacher at the time this project came along. We’re guessing he wasn’t a physics guy because if he was, a mini-van would not have made it to the top of the race car selection list. That being said, the van ran well for what it was, even if it were not a nationally feared competitor in those days.

The van made its debut in 1995 and it was campaigned for an unknown (by me) period of time. As the video you’ll watch below shows to be from 1998, we know it had at least a few seasons on it. In this video you’ll see the van make its quickest and fastest pass ever, 6.83/204 mph. That is completely insane for a van bodied anything, especially a “dust buster” era GM van. But, some perspective is in order. In 1998 the heaviest hitters in the pro mod world were running in the high 6.30s. I don’t bring that up to discredit the van, but merely to let you know that the 6-second, 200-mph pass was more of a major league personal accomplishment than a national record breaker. While I cannot personally verify the claim, Eiserer says that his 6.83/204 was the first six second, 200-mph lap in Kansas City International Raceway (RIP) history. If so, that’s friggin’ awesome.

While certainly an interesting and fun gimmick, the van was very well built and you can see in this video that it was a workin’ son of a gun when Eiserer dropped the clutch and started hammering the Lenco through the gears with his shift levers. His students did all the body work (again, if my memory serves correct) and the nose was a one piece deal that came off so the engine could be serviced and the front suspension could be accessed. They did a great job of integrating the air inlet for the bird catcher into the base of the windshield to maintain the factory looks of the van.

That may be been the weirdest sentence I have ever published…but it’s true!

Where is the van now? What happened to it? I have no idea. Hopefully it is resting comfortably somewhere or it is ready to attack the strip in some fashion. Hey, maybe George himself will see this and set me straight if I have botched up any of this story. Either way, press play below to see the world’s baddest ass mini-van ever…by lots.
