NHRA Insider Podcast: Erica Enders and Scott Palmer Talk Fire, Risks, and The Challenges of The Western Swing

It’s another week and it’s another episode of the NHRA Insider podcast! This time it’s the Western Swing warm up show and the guests are Erica Enders and Scott Palmer. The last time Erica was racing it was Norwalk, Ohio and she suffered a massive pro mod fire and raced her pro stock car as well. We talk about the guts needed to get past something like the fire she had, we talk about Steve Matusek driving in pro stock over the three race western swing, and we talk about all the other stuff associated with being a professional drag racer in an ever changing world.

Scott Palmer was the top fuel runner up in Epping and it was the second final round appearance he has ever made. While he came up short against Steve Torrence, it was one of the seminal moments of his career and certainly a high point for him in the 2019 season. Palmer talks about his Epping experience, his Denver preparation, his team’s growth, and taking a bath in nitromethane at a few hundred miles per hour.

Also, Lohnes talks about his experience calling a funny car match race last weekend at Keystone Raceway outside of Pittsburgh and how it brought him right back to his roots as a kid announcing drag races in Epping, New Hampshire.

Compelling guests, lots of laughs, and insight into the world of NHRA drag racing that you’ll only get on the NHRA Insider podcast.
