This is five minutes of crazy. Five minutes of insanity from the world of nostalgia drag racing. Blower explosions, drivers getting bathed in hot transmission fluid, burnouts gone wrong, barrel rolling gassers, wall banging passes, and mechanical failures galore. In short, this is five minutes of drag racing’s crazy side. People who have never seen drag racing in the raw really don’t get the intensity and the on the edge feel that the sport brings. Yes, it is straight line racing but the reality is that it is a defiance of physics each and every time a car makes a full throttle pass. The back is trying to pass the front half the time and the guys who are really good make it look easy. Start throwing in broken parts, maybe stuff on the track, and one bad driving decision, you have a recipe for disaster.
What’s cool about this video is the fact that Dawn centered it around her real love, which is nostalgia racing. This is all her footage and stuff that she has captured over the years filming races from the wilds of New Hampshire all the way to Bakersfield, California. She’s lived the life, she’s seen the craziness as her dad was racing his crazy Opels in the 1970s. Dawn is great at what she does because she understands the sport and the people involved. Lots of people “film” drag racing but many of those people do not have any idea what they are looking at.
