Apparently today there’s a sporting contest going on between two cities. Many people seem to be highly interested in said contest and are clogging up the roads, airwaves, and internets with their opinions and travel to places to view the spectacle. That sounds like a lot of wasted time to us so we have presented you an alternative in the form of his video from the 1991 NHRA Winternationals! See, that’s a win.
This was a pretty epic race with stuff like the massive Russ Collins corkscrew blow over, the final between a resurgent Don Prudhomme and a shockingly quick Frank Bradley, Tom McEwen driving the Jack Clark/Mobil top fuel dragster, youngsters like Larry Dixon and Greg Anderson wrenching on cars, and the list of coolness goes on and on.
This is the NBC Sports broadcast of the race and the team includes the familiar voices you wold expect. The pit interviews are cool, the setting is fantastic, and the storylines that developed from this race wold make 1991 a very interesting season of NHRA drag racing.

Thank god that’s the last football game because now after the winter hiatus real sports start again! Thanks for giving us that glimpse from the past. I barely remember watching that but seeing people there that have evolved with the sport to date is just amazing! Larry Dixon sporting a blonde mullet,John Medlin as Prudomme’s crew chief, Greg Anderson Warren Johnson’s crew chief, Steve Evans and Nitrodamous himself announcing Don Garlits….AWESOME
