Fun Video: Look Through These Clear Valve Covers To Watch Rocker Arms Working At Idle

(Video Credit: Victory Red Colorado Channel) – We love videos like this. Nothing crazy fancy, nothing over the top, just pure gearheaded entertainment. What you are going to see is pretty simple. A monster big block Chrysler wedge with Predator style heads idling in the pits at the drag strip. That in and of itself would be neat because huge nitrous engines such as this one have camshafts in them that look like mountain ranges and they sound flipping awesome at idle. The bonus here is the fact that the engine is equipped with a set of valve covers with clear plastic or polycarbonate tops.

The result is that we get to watch the monster rocker arms working away and oil shooting everywhere under the covers. With the advent of crazy micro cameras we have been able to see things like valve springs working and actual combustion activity inside running engines. This may be kind of an old school thing but we love it all the same.

Numbers on a tach and the noise an engine makes as it thunders down a drag strip are cool but to see this thing working away at idle and the speed those rockers are moving it is literally impossible to consider how fast they are working when the engine is climbing the RPM scale.

This is a fun thing to watch on a cold day here at the BangShift eastern offices.
