In this case we head into the time machine and jump back to 1982 and the NHRA national event in Columbus, Ohio. Specifically we head back to the final round which places Bob Glidden and Lee Shepherd next to each other. Titans of the era, these guys were simply on a different level than everyone else. The best part? Shepherd was a Chevy man, driving the Rehr and Morrison Camaro with Glidden of course being the Ford representative in this case competing with a Ford Escort EXP.
Drag racing fans got a lot of this rivalry but ultimately were cheated out of what it could have really been when Lee Shepherd passed away in 1985. The battle between the teams was about as hot as it ever was in 1982. Shepherd had captured the 1981 title, breaking Glidden’s three year streak, he would ultimately go on to win the 1982 title as well as couple more after that but does he win this race?
