Lots of time when we show you a hardcore competition car as part of the American Powertrain Parting Shift it is not being H-pattern shifted. Maybe it has a sequential shifter or a Vertigate type deal in it or some other situation but not today. This is a 1,500hp Mustang that runs 7s in the quarter mile with a twin turbocharged 4.6L Ford Modular V8 and the driver is ripping a damned short throw shifter attached to a traditional manual transmission. How awesome is that?!
Doubling down on the cool, this thing gets driven on the street at times and it is as viciously insane as you’d expect, with the ability to mangle the tires at speeds both during and far beyond what one would see in normal highway cruising. There’s an art to driving and setting up a car like this and boy do these guys have it down.
As one would expect, it kind of walks out of the hole and then the hounds of hell are unleashed and this car makes some real big steam from about 330ft on down the strip. No sequential shifter, no Vertigate, no trickery, just a guy who really knows how to get down with an H-pattern. While we’re not much for weirdly specific records here, the claim that this car is the quickest stick shifted Ford in the world is pretty freaking awesome and we’re buying it.
